Tottenham Hotspurs In English Premier League

Still trophy-less, but the progress is still there for Tottenham Hotspurs. They have finally become a lethal force in Europe under Mourinho. They're not big as Manchester City or Liverpool, but still, teams will think twice before hoping to face them on the field. They have everything in their arsenal, from an excellent goalkeeper to some red-hot forwards like Son, Harry Kane, and Gareth Bale. They have quite a balanced team–and yes, 2020 was quite surprising. Let's talk about the Spurs' performance so far, and let's start with the Premier League. Although Tottenham Hotspurs started with a loss against Everton, Jose Mourinho was quick to learn and understand the physics in Tottenham Hotspurs. He didn't make many mistakes after that. He even topped the league table before Liverpool took over the charge. Tottenham Hotspurs went 11 matches unbeaten after that loss and before Liverpool beat them 2-1 at Anfield. Then, they lost again at home against Leicester City.

Jose Mourinho In Tottenham Hotspurs

Jose Mourinho is known for being realistic, and he did say on many occasions that Tottenham Hotspurs are not targeting the Premier League this season. They will be happy if the Spurs secure European football. Only he knows why he would say that because they are quite a balanced team. Besides, they are no less than any other team in the league, especially after the inclusion of Gareth Bale. Coming to EFL or Carabao Cup, the Tottenham Hotspurs were phenomenal. They first defeated Chelsea on penalties, and then they beat Stoke City 3-1 to book their place in this competition's semi-finals. The next competition was UEFA Europa League, where they again were brilliant. We all know how lethal Jose Mourinho is when it comes to European football.

The Tottenham Hotspurs managed to top their group stage, bagging 15 points from 6 fixtures, with their only loss against Belgian side Antwerp. Currently, they are one of the favorites to lift this trophy this season. Coming to the Tottenham Hotspurs loft, they are finally quite balanced, and now they look like a team to be scared of. Many world-class forwards, including Harry Kane, Gareth Bale, Son, and Alli Tottenham Hotspurs are one hell of a team in attack. They've been blasting goals from the very start of the season. In this sense, Son has scored 14 goals for them so far, with Harry Kane topping the charts for them with 16. Hugo Lloris has been the regular man in the posts, and he has been phenomenal throughout the season. Belgian defender Toby Aldereireld has been the most trusted man by Jose to guard his defense. He's been joined by Sergio Reguilon and Eric Dier.

Spurs' midfield has been quite shaky this season, and Jose had to undergo several changes in this sector as the season went past. Moussa Sissoko starred 20 times for the Spurs, although he has yet to score a goal. Lucas Moura failed to make a place in the regular line-up although the impressive skills he has. And yes, how can we forget their manager Jose Mourinho, who can be a nightmare for any team. So, we know that Jose stated that Spurs wouldn't be targeting the Premier League this season. Maybe he just wanted to take the pressure off his players. The fact is that Spurs are one of the favorites to win the English Premier League 2020/21.
