FC Bayern Munich In 2020 Bundesliga

FC Bayern Munich started the 2020/21 season in search of their ninth consecutive Bundesliga. Besides, they won the last Champions League in an undefeated way, so team morale is high. In this new season, Bayern is once again the top favorite in Germany. Before starting the campaign, the odds for a new Bavarian club title were -700. This implies that the bookmakers gave them an 88% chance to be champions again. And they are right to give them so much credit. FC Bayern Munich has just won the German league eight times in a row. Additionally, it swept his rivals by winning the eleven games it played in the previous Champions League. However, in the last Bundesliga, in the first week of December 2019, the champions were stuck in seventh place. They then took off, winning 58 of a possible 60 points in their last 20 league games.

FC Bayern Munich 2020/21 Squad

The club did not make major changes to last season's squad. Though, the Bavarian club wants to ratify the recently won titles. For this, they acquired Leroy Sané. This winger, one of the best in the world, comes from a season in which he suffered a hard knee injury. If the German returns to his best physical form, we will see one of the best attackers on the planet. Given the Perisic and Coutinho's departures, Sané will have to fill that gap and keep Bayern's attack at the highest level. Sane's presence together with Lewandowski, Gnabry, Müller, and Coman sets up a devastating attack.

In the midfield, Flick has one of the best midfielder pairs in the league in Kimmich and Goretzka. They helped Bayern have the highest possession percentage last season. Likewise, they are very good at feeding passes to the forwards. The only significant departure in this sector was the one of Thiago Alcantara, who went to Liverpool. At the center of defense, they have very competent players like Alaba, Süle, veteran Boateng and newcomer Nianzou. The latter came from PSG as a free agent. The wing-backs are another strong point. On the left, they have Alphonso Davies, one of the world's best and most valuable young players. Lucas Hernandez, another highly valued player, will be his substitute. On the right-wing, they have Pavard and reinforcement Bouna Sarr, brought from Olympique de Marseille.

Bayern central defenders are prone to injury. To compensate for this and take advantage of Kimmich's versatility, they brought Roca Roca from RCD Espanyol. So, in case of injuries, Kimmich can play in the last line, and Roca replaces Kimmich in the midfield. In goal, Neuer reached a level very close to his best times. Still, they acquired Nübel, a young goalkeeper with excellent projection, at no cost from Shalke 04. Perhaps, what they need to improve is their bench's depth. FC Bayern Munich faces various competitions and high demands every year. Thus, the club needs substitutes who maintain the starters' level when entering to play. Moreover, let's not forget that some key players like Boateng, Muller, and Lewandowski are now over 30.

FC Bayern Munich's goal in the 2020/21 Bundesliga season is to clinch their ninth consecutive title. In this sense, we will continue seeing from them offensive football with fast transitions and many goals.
