Top Soccer Bets To Make For The MLS This Season
The regular season of one of America's and Canada's biggest soccer tournament drew to a close this October, with the New York Red Bulls winning the Supporters' Shield. Now, the knockout stage of the MLS club playoffs is underway, where the top 6 teams play for a chance to compete at the championship game this December to win the MLS Cup, as well as earn the chance to play against the winners of the Campeón de Campeones at the Campeones Cup next year. So which team do the bookmakers think will win the tournament this year?
Read on to find out.
Atlanta United FC
Atlanta United are the favorites to win this season and are said to be one of the best teams in Major League Soccer. They boast of an array of some incredibly talented players. They missed out on the Supporters' Shield by just 2 points. The team, however, claims that their loss only motivates them to win the entire competition.
New York Red Bulls
The New York Red Bulls, who were the winners of the Supporters' Shield and finished on top of the table yet again, are also on the top of bookmakers' lists to win the MLS. Formerly known as the MetroStars, they have been one of the most successful clubs of the league. Despite being favorites, the Red Bulls still haven't won a league, but given the form they're in now, this year might be their time to shine.
Sporting Kansas City
Sporting Kansas City will be hoping to win their third MLS title this year. They finished on the top of the Western Conference Table, and 2nd in the final table. The last few seasons haven't been great for Kansas City, as they never seemed to make it past the knockout stage.
The Portland Timbers emerged as the winners of the Western Conference semifinals in a nerve-wracking penalty kick out against the Seattle Sounders this November. New head coach Giovanni Savarese may be just what they need to make it through this season.
